Welcome to Singing Hills

Posted on June 12, 2013 by admin in Blog - 1 Comment

Singing Hills is a small stud farm located at the bottom of Mt. Buffalo on the Ovens River near Porepunka and Bright in the North-East of Victoria.

Located in a picturesque valley that extends from Myrtleford, 22km away, right through Bright to the bottom of Mt. Hotham, approximately 25km from Singing Hills, this holiday location is ideally suited to a diversified and varied North-East Victoria holiday experience.

The property is a working stud farm, but you don’t need to worry about the thoroughbred horses as they are cared for separately, and there is a secure driveway entrance to the property.

Accommodation is in a two-and-a-half story (mezzanine) A-framed home, which provides the following excellent living facilities.

A fully-glassed front-window, 39-foot high, allows an uninterrupted vista of Mt. Buffalo, and the other windows in the house give a 360 degree view of surrounding mountains and the pine-tree lined paddocks with the pleasing view of horses grazing.

Fresh rain-water provides unlimited water for use and there is a spacious garden and lawn area for play and lunch on the lawn, or the large rear deck area that is accessed from second story.

If you love natural timbers, you will warm to the interior with honey-coloured beams, floors and ceiling ribs that give an open-space and cathedral feel to the living environment.

Access to the river is easy and private. The front of the property borders the Ovens river and the river is the barrier between the Mt. Buffalo national park and this property. In the river are platypus and trout, so fishing from your own, private bank is easy. Birds of all colours and varieties, especially the parrots, black cockatoos, budgies, magpies and kookaburras enjoy unlimited use of the trees and chestnuts that are on the property, and provide a great changing attraction.
